During the decades of its existence, the Wayne DuPage Horse Trials, Inc. has sought to ebb and flow
with the needs of local riders. Through the years the HT has changed venues, added levels and
changed its format – all in an effort to meet the needs and wants of the changing event population.
Mandatory stabling and haul in fees were omitted in order to reduce costs to competitors.
This year the Wayne DuPage HT is pleased to present something new for those looking to school or
compete without the financial obligations of stabling, haul-in fees and the time constraints of
having to spend all day or weekend on the show grounds.
A popular format taking shape throughout the country offers an opportunity for riders to school a
bona fide cross country course that also has show jumps integrated on the cross country course.
After a long winter riding in the indoor where show jumping and dressage are an everyday
occurrence, eventors and their mounts can’t wait to get out on a real cross country course! This
new offering from Wayne DuPage is that opportunity! Stretch your legs and your horse’s hooves
while you jump in and out of multiple water jumps, up and down a bank, and over ditches in the
Pratt’s Wayne Woods Forest Preserve, site of the Wayne DuPage cross county course.
Don’t want to get up early to be at the show grounds to feed your horse at 8:00 AM even though
you don’t compete till 2:00 PM? No worries! You can “haul” into the forest preserve and when you
are finished schooling or competing, take your horse home to dine in his stall! No stabling or haul
in fees!
The weekend will offer both a schooling day and a competition day, allowing for the option to
choose either schooling, competing, or both. Choose the day(s) that suit you and bring your
horse(s) accordingly! Both days will feature a casual atmosphere designed to let you ride your
horse over cross country jumps on a bona fide cross country course! It is the goal of the Wayne
DuPage Horse Trials, Inc. to offer opportunities for riders to use the facilities, to heighten
confidence and to enjoy the sport without undue expense.
Those riding in the Lucinda Green Clinic June 9-10 or 11-12 will enjoy a “sneak peek” at the course
Lucinda will be using for her cross county exercises.
Details and entry forms will be available on the Wayne DuPage website www.waynedupageht.com
